Weeks of Feb. 4 - Feb.15    Students are working on Poetry Unit.  We've studied 2 narrative poems, and now students will study 2 ballads.  Other poems will be epic, lyrical, and free verse.  Students will have various assignments on poetry that will be posted on the daily homework sheet.  Students have also been working on a daily vocabulary enriching activity, with a new word beginning with each letter of the alphabet.  

Students will complete their mastery skill writing assignment.

Students will write and spell 50 common misspelled words for 8th grade.

Students will complete a vocabulary enriching activity.

Students will be discussing type of prose in form of a Folktale.

Students will read 3 versions of 'The Cinderella Story'  German, Chinese, and Poetic Form

Students will be able to analyze, compare, and contrast literary styles

Week of Sept. 17 - 21

Quiz on Thursday on The Treasure of Lemon Brown. Students are to know comprehension, vocabulary, and literary terms.

Assigned personal essay due Friday.
