Mrs. Cox’s Classroom Rules: Please review these with your student

  1. Obey all rules! - All school rules and policies are followed and enforced- see student handbook.
  2. NO CELL PHONES during instructional time - See Handbook for policy.
  3. BRING ALL MATERIALS TO CLASS everyday – this includes: notes, folder/binder and PENCIL.
  4. RAISE YOUR HAND to speak – one person talks and all others listen.
  5. RESPECT – yourself, your teachers, your peers AND your environment (push in chairs, keep space neat).

Classroom Procedures: Please review

  • Bring all necessary materials to class everyday – you cannot work if you are not prepared.
  • Restroom use – You must sign out and back in, & TAKE THE PASS. I expect you to be responsible and follow this procedure at the beginning and end of the class period so you don’t miss instruction.
  • Housekeeping – It is our responsibility to keep our classroom clean. Please push in CHAIRS and throw all GARBAGE in the trash can.

Grading Procedures:

  • All grades are calculated using a point value system. Grade points are distributed approximately:  Homework/Projects (40% of total), and Assessments (60% of total).
  • All grades will be posted on the school approved website MMS, please use this tool to your advantage. Check your school information packet for details and review your student’s progress frequently.
  • IT IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY TO CHECK YOUR GRADE

PARTICIPATION is required and will carry points toward your grade.  Encourage your student to ask questions, this helps other students, and it also helps me to determine what may need more coverage in class based on the questions asked. Remember if you have a question – ask, because you may not be the only person with that same question(s).

Students will be engaged every day; labs and lecture are part of the learning process. My students MUST TAKE NOTES when applicable and I expect students to keep an organized notebook.  Homework will be assigned most class periods, often with time in class to work on the assignment in class – to be finished at home.

**Extra credit opportunities will be given at random to all students as it arises in class discussions.  I do not give extra credit opportunities toward the end of the grading period, please don’t ask. It is the job of the student to maintain their grade through the quarter.

We will have a great year!
